Foundation's mission

In the spirit of Professor Andrzej Dembicz's intellectual legacy, we support the development and popularization of Latin American studies and strengthening relations between Poland and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Professor Andrzej Dembicz Foundation

The Foundation was established on the initiative of the immediate family of Professor Dr. Hab. Andrzej Dembicz, who passed away on November 29, 2009. His scientific, institutional and organizational achievements were the basis for the establishment of the Foundation and the definition of its areas of activity.

The Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political organization and is not affiliated with any religion.

We are convinced that:

The development of Latin American studies contributes to the civilizational development of societies.
The development of Latin American studies in Poland contributes to tolerance, understanding and cooperation between regions and thus helps to counteract racial and ethnic prejudices.

In the long term, Latin American studies will contribute to a multidimensional approach of Poland to the Latin American and Caribbean region and strengthen the tolerant, solidary and humanitarian attitude in our country.

Partners of our Foundation:

The Foundation's goals include:

supporting the development and popularization of Latin American studies in Poland and around the world;
working to strengthen relations between Poland and Latin America and the Caribbean, in the spirit of the scientific legacy of Professor Andrzej Dembicz;
documenting and perpetuating the memory of Professor Andrzej Dembicz;
supporting both young and experienced and recognized researchers in the field of broadly understood Latin American studies;
supporting research, teaching and educational units in Poland;
promoting Polish achievements in the field of Latin America and Caribbean studies, especially interdisciplinary studies, and supporting the transfer of achievements in Polish Latin American studies to economic practice;
working towards scientific, cultural, social and economic rapprochement between Poland and Latin America and the Caribbean, including providing humanitarian and development assistance to the societies of the region.

Management Board of the Foundation prof. Andrzej Dembicz

Ewelina Biczyńska (President of the Foundation)

PhD in social sciences, sociologist and Latin American studies, currently works at the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies at the University of Warsaw. Her main academic interests concern development issues, spatial justice, social and urban transformation, with particular emphasis on Latin America. He has over 10 years of experience in quantitative market research.

Wojciech Doroszewicz (Member of the Management Board)

Naturalist and Latin Americanist, graduate of the Interfaculty Environmental Protection Studies of the Ministry of Environmental Protection at the University of Warsaw and the Center for Latin American Studies CESLA UW. Employee of the University of Warsaw (currently the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies, in 2008-2016 the Center for Latin American Studies). He studies human-environment relations on the American continents in historical and cultural terms, as well as the issues of sustainable development.

Krystyna Laskus (Member of the Management Board)

Real Estate and Expansion Manager. A graduate of MBA studies at the University of Warsaw. An experienced professional in the field of: network expansion and development, sales and disposals, project and asset management, financial analysis and negotiations, etc. She has experience in team management and teamwork.

Teresa Sońta-Jaroszewicz (Member of the Management Board)

Ph.D. in humanities. Employee of the University of Warsaw (currently the Institute of Iberian and Ibero-American Studies; in 2001-2016 the Center for Latin American Studies). Her area of scientific interest is the visual art of Latin America and the Polish presence in Latin America.
